MY STAY
The Mayfair room
The Connaught felt like a Mayfair hotel I could relax in, not just look at. I came back to a quiet room after a day out and knew the Red Room and breakfast were waiting without another journey across London. A larger suite sounded tempting, but good sleep in a room with enough space mattered more.

Service by name
The people made this established hotel feel smaller. Being greeted by name and having a request handled without a second call stayed with me. A massage at the Aman Spa after traveling helped too; I liked having attentive help without somebody hovering over the rest of the day.
Drinks & dining
The Red Room could be lovely late in the evening, though on a busy visit the wait for one drink was longer than expected. I booked a dinner table I cared about and left breakfast time free instead of making the bar the only part of the hotel to enjoy.
Would I return?
Several days are needed for The Connaught's rhythm of London outside and familiar people to come back to after a full day exploring Mayfair. For an overnight stay between a late arrival and a very early train, the considerable room price would be much harder to justify.
