MY STAY
Bed & intimate scale
Maroma felt smaller and more intimate than the Riviera Maya resorts I might have chosen. Seven pillow choices helped me get the bed right, and fresh croissants from the bakery made waking up there genuinely appealing. Paths through the greenery softened the short walk back from the beach.

Pools & room position
Three pools gave me options without making the grounds feel like a water park. A room's position still changed the trip: being close to a quiet pool and the beach path was more useful than a general description of the category. The spa was worth making time for instead of filling every day with long outings elsewhere.

Dinner & concierge
For a special evening, the five-course Yaxche dinner on the roof offered something quite different from a casual beach meal. The concierge also helped swap a planned cenote visit for Ek Balam when more time among Maya ruins sounded better. I liked that those changes did not become a project to manage myself.

Would I return?
Seaweed can affect the shoreline, so a perfect beach on one date says little about swimming on another. I'd return for the room, food and scale of the place, leaving room for its pools and gardens even when the sea was less inviting.
