Imperial Suite & the Atlantic
Hôtel du Palais felt inseparable from the Atlantic. The Imperial Suite was the room I stayed in, with the sea close enough to hear when I wanted to. I could walk the shore in the morning, then swim in the outdoor seawater pool or use the indoor pool when the weather changed. Biarritz was still close enough to explore on foot.
A truly quiet room
What really set that suite apart was how quiet it was. The air-conditioning made no noticeable noise, street sounds stayed outside the well-sealed windows, and the bed was genuinely comfortable. The attention to detail in the way the room was built impressed me more than the palace scale. I have stayed in grand rooms that look good but make sleeping difficult; this one did the opposite.
Breakfast & Biarritz
Breakfast with the Atlantic in front of me made it tempting to linger before going into town. I left some dinners free for Biarritz rather than spend the whole stay inside the palace. The sea, the pool and that remarkably calm Imperial Suite gave me three quite different reasons to slow the trip down.
Would I return?
Hôtel du Palais belongs at the top of my hotel list. The sea setting is striking, but the silent air-conditioning, sealed windows and supportive bed are why I actually rested well there. That combination of comfort and attention to detail has stayed with me longer than the grandeur of the building.
