MY STAY
Ayung River villa
Mandapa brought the Ayung River into the stay rather than leaving it as scenery beyond the room. My private-pool villa had enough outdoor space for a slow afternoon, and the paths and restaurant areas felt more like a small village than a hotel block. A riverfront position was quite different from a jungle outlook.

Butler service
The butler made the spread-out grounds easier to use. After betel leaves and areca nuts came up before arrival, they appeared as a personal detail in the villa. Breakfast by my pool and a private dinner near the river felt more special than another generic room-service plan. I still checked the bed arrangement carefully for a multiroom booking; repeated questions in advance should settle it.
Spa & river
I took a 90-minute massage and a Disconnect to Reconnect class to spend time away from the villa. Rafts on the Ayung could occasionally be heard near the spa, so the exact treatment slot mattered for quiet. Carts helped on trips across the resort when my room was far from the restaurants.

Would I return?
The river-facing villa and good help from its butler are reason to come back without filling every day with outings. The right villa position made staying in as rewarding as another outing into Ubud.
