MY STAY
The Roppongi base
Grand Hyatt Tokyo worked because Roppongi Hills was part of my plans. Food, bars and transport were nearby, yet there was a proper pool and spa to return to. The room's shower was an unexpectedly satisfying detail after a day on foot. A quieter floor mattered when an early night was more appealing than the neighborhood's energy.

Spa, pool & club
The spa changing rooms had drinks, light snacks and massage chairs, making a swim feel like a whole afternoon rather than a quick dip. Club access would be useful only with time for its breakfast and evening food, not as another benefit added blindly to the bill.

Check-in & room
Arrival was less polished. Spending 40 minutes discussing an upgrade only to learn the assigned room was not ready made a long day longer. I would rather have a clear room status immediately, then check the lights and fittings before unpacking. Staff could fix a problem, but it was easier to find it early.

Would I return?
Roppongi's bars meant the hotel did not have to supply every night out. I found a jazz evening nearby worth making time for. I'd stay again for the location and spa, without mistaking a busy, full-service city hotel for a silent retreat.
