Lake-facing room
A lake-facing room changed Grand Hotel Tremezzo for me. A park-facing suite offered space, but looking out over Como made the quieter moments in the room feel like part of the trip. It was a choice worth making deliberately, not leaving to a general photograph of the hotel.
Pool & boat
The pool on a pontoon in the lake and a four-hour private boat tour got me onto the water rather than merely looking at it. I would reserve the boat ahead. Pizza in the garden restaurant was the meal I wanted to repeat; a formal dinner deserved more care, particularly when rain might move the booking into a less ambitious bistro.
Suite layout & planning
In a Garden Suite with a pullout bed, folding it back into a sofa each morning would have kept the sitting area useful. Room view, boat and dinner were all worth confirming, and the famous terraces attracted plenty of people taking pictures. Complete seclusion was not part of the deal.
Would I return?
The lake-facing room and a day by boat are strong reasons to give Grand Hotel Tremezzo another stay. The setting was most convincing when room, meal and boat all worked together; an expensive ordinary room just to say I'd stayed here would miss the pleasure of it.
