The bay & peninsula
Four Seasons Astir Palace gave me a proper sea day while keeping Athens part of the trip. Its sheltered bay and spread-out peninsula offered more than one place to swim or sit, but the resort felt different depending on where the room was. Nafsika, Arion and the bungalows are not interchangeable.
Room & garden space
A bungalow with garden space would suit a quieter stay, while a well-placed room in a main building keeps breakfast and the pools closer. I would settle the actual wing and view before paying extra. A grand photograph of the coast is little comfort if the walk from a room to everything else feels wrong.
Breakfast & poolside
The bakery and patisserie spread gave breakfast a clear highlight, and ice cream brought beside the pool made a small but memorable pause in the afternoon. Tennis and spa time were welcome changes from swimming. Dinner needed a little planning, particularly the table and wine bill; a resort with several restaurants can still be busy when everyone has the same evening in mind.
Would I return?
My favorite part, the bay, deserves several days, not a hurried stop on the way back from Athens to the airport. The drive into the city is real, so the hotel works best as a resort first, with the capital available when I want it. The right building made that balance feel effortless.
