The Rodeo Drive setting
Beverly Wilshire made sense the moment I stepped outside: Rodeo Drive was right there, with no car or elaborate plan needed to enjoy Beverly Hills. The public rooms had a classic feel, and coming back for a drink after walking the neighborhood was part of the pleasure. This is an address-first hotel, not a hidden resort.
The bedroom
The famous entrance does not say much about an individual bedroom. Some simpler rooms show their age, so a specific floor, view and recent update mattered more to me than an impressive-sounding category. Handing my bags to the bell team and heading out was easy; finding a tired room afterward would have been much harder to overlook.
Dining & pool
Dinner at THE Blvd meant beef and a drink without another trip across Los Angeles. The courtyard pool was nice for a dip, but its compact size made a full pool holiday seem unlikely. The outdoor gym was small too. I enjoyed both as useful extras rather than reasons to choose this hotel over one with more space outside.
Would I return?
Walking out onto Rodeo Drive after a comfortable night is what would bring me back, not a promise of a vast pool. Anyone paying the Four Seasons premium mainly for a huge pool or the newest bedroom design might be disappointed. Get the room right and the address does the rest.
