A separate living room
Fairmont Kea Lani won me over with something practical: even a regular suite had a separate living room. The larger bathroom and outdoor seating made it comfortable to spend time inside without paying for an oceanfront villa. That villa would be a very different purchase, so the exact outlook still mattered.
Polo Beach & pools
Polo Beach was an easy walk from the gardens, and the pools felt less like a morning competition for chairs than some larger Wailea resorts. I could use the local car for coffee or dinner near the Shops at Wailea, then come back to a room with space to unwind. A cabana was worth pricing separately before building the day around it.
Breakfast & dining
At Kea Lani Restaurant, I took my time over an omelet and fresh-baked bread beside the garden fountain instead of making a quick coffee stop. The spa deserved an appointment made in advance rather than a hurried final-day visit. Staff around the pools could be warm, though a missed suite request still called for speaking up before unpacking.
Would I return?
Several days with a separate living room, easy beach access and space by the pool make the case for Kea Lani. Paying for a confirmed view made more sense than buying an impressive category name. The pleasure was not needing to organize each hour around other people.
